Help for troubled teens-- So, what do you do to help your teenage friends or family that are dealing with serious issues like eating disorders (anorexia & bulimia), depression or drug abuse?
Let me share one possible answer to the question: New Havenresidential treatment center specializes in help for troubled teens, specifically teenage girls that are dealing with very serious problems like anorexia, bulimia, depression and substance abuse. Sometimes the best solution to drastic problems is drastic measures--like this sort of "away from home" treatment.
At New Haven, the girls stay in dorms, have school right there with the other students, have access to counselors and therapists and everything else they need to overcome their problems. This program even uses horses as part of the therapy. Now, you might be thinking that a place call New Haven is in Connecticut, but it's not. It's out in Spanish Fork, Utah at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. It looks like a beautiful place to "get away" and deal with issues.
If you happen to know of a girls that's going through some tough times and this sort of place might help, please pass this info on to her parents--most parents don't realize problems are as bad as they are and a lot of them don't know what to do about them. These kinds of programs may not be for everyone, but if it will work to help a few, why not pass it on. Also, if you know of other programs like this that can offer help to struggling teens, please post the info here and we can start a list!
If you know of teenage girls that might need something like this, let their parents know about places like New Haven, because chances are their parents either don't know what's going on or don't know where to go to get their daughter help.
Just passing along some helpful info. If you know of other places for troubled teens besides New Haven, please post it here!
